Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek Itinerary

*Note: During trekking, you will spend nights in luxury lodges. Luxury lodges offer beautiful rooms, private washrooms, hot water, and many other amenities. You do not have to pay extra money for charging and WiFi in luxury lodges.

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel

Mountain Life Trek's team will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival day. Our team will escort you to the hotel and help you with check-in.

After checking in at a 5-star hotel, you can spend the rest of the day relaxing and exploring around your hotel. We may meet later in the evening for the trip briefing.

Day 2

Guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu and trek preparation

Today, you will go on guided sightseeing with one of our friendly tour guides in the morning. Enjoy a delicious breakfast, then embark on the tour.

You will explore ancient temples and palaces, like Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddha Stupa, Monkey Temple, Patan Durbar Square, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

After the tour, return to your hotel and rest. Later in the evening, meet with your trek guide and do last-minute shopping. Pack your duffel bags and sleep early.

Day 3

Early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla airport and trek to Phakding (2,610 m/8,563 ft)

For the Lukla flight, you will leave your hotel around 1:00 AM and drive to Ramechhap Airport. It takes approximately 4 to 5 hours to reach Ramechhap Airport from Kathmandu.

The drive will be smooth, and you will reach the airport in no time. From Ramechhap Airport, you will reach Lukla in around 30 minutes of flying. The trek begins in Lukla.

Following lush hillsides and the Dudh Koshi River, you will descend to Phakding village. Cross hanging suspension bridges on the way and pass by small villages.

Important note:

  • i. In spring and autumn, the Lukla flights are operated from Ramechhap Airport instead of Kathmandu Airport.
  • ii. In summer/monsoon and winter, the Lukla flights are operated from Kathmandu Airport.
  • iii. You can take a helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Lukla throughout the year.
  • iv. Contact us to upgrade to a helicopter flight between Kathmandu and Lukla. It will cost you an additional $550 to $600.

Day 4

Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar

From Phakding village, you will keep trekking following the banks of the Dudh Koshi River and gradually ascend through rhododendron-covered hills to Namche Bazaar. The trail has many suspension bridges and also passes by a handful of small settlements.

Permits are registered right after leaving Monjo village. The Tenzing Hillary Suspension Bridge is the longest one on this route and even in the whole Everest region. Towards the end of the trail, the terrain becomes steep.

Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar: hike to Hotel Everest View

You spend an acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar to adjust to the high elevation. The morning is spent hiking to the Hotel Everest View from where you will see a distant yet tempting view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Ama Dablam.

After the hike, return to Namche Bazaar to spend the night. Explore this bustling mountain town and visit museums and galleries around it later in the day.

Day 6

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche village

The trek continues from Namche Bazaar to Phunki Tenga. The trail is flat at the start and gradually descends. From Phunki Tenga, you will ascend to Tengboche village, enjoying superb views of Mt. Thamserku and Mt. Ama Dablam.

Visit the biggest monastery in the Khumbu region in this village. You can see a stunning view of Mt. Everest and Mt. Ama Dablam from Tengboche village.

Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche

After Tengboche, you will hike to Dingboche village. The trail descends through Deboche village and goes to Imja Khola. You will be walking through lush forests. Crossing a suspension bridge over Imja Khola, ascend to Pangboche village.

Take a minute to explore an ancient monastery in Pangboch. Then continue ascending through small settlements like Orsho and Shomare and pass by terraced fields.

The trail from Tengboche to Dingboche offers breathtaking views of Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Island Peak.

Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche

Leaving Dingboche, you will ascend along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and pass by the memorial stones made for climbers who lost their lives on Mount Everest. The scenery drastically changes after Dingboche village, and the mountains are much more prominent.

Trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp via Gorak Shep (5,164 m/16,942 ft) and back to Gorak Shep for a night's stay

From Lobuche village, your first stop will be Gorak Shep. Trek along the Khumbu Glacier. The terrain is steep and rocky. At Gorak Shep, we drop our heavy duffel bag in a lodge and continue to the Everest Base Camp with our daypacks.

It will be around a two-hour hike from Gorak Shep to EBC. Enjoy your time at the base camp of the tallest mountain in the world and return to Gorak Shep to spend the night because trekkers are not allowed to spend the night at EBC.

Day 11

Hike to Kala Patthar early in the morning and trek down to Pheriche (4,371 m/14,340 ft)

Today, you will hike to Kala Patthar before sunrise. Kala Patthar is a viewpoint that offers one of the most mesmerizing views of Mount Everest. You will see many other mountains during the hike.

After that, return to Gorak Shep and have breakfast. Then, we get ready to trek to Pheriche. The trail descends following the same trail to Dughla via Lobuche village. From Dughla, the trail to Pheriche village separates.

Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla
